Mark Munanura began his career in 1999 right out of High School as a trainee, an apprentice technician in the Transmission (Operations & Maintenance) department of the then state-run monopoly electricity provider, Uganda Electricity Board. While there, he specialized in protection and control systems for high density power lines. In 2002, Mark was promoted to Senior Stores Officer and moved to the Projects Accounting Department, where he was posted to run the project stores for the $10mn ADB funded Urban Power Rehabilitation Project.

Mark graduated with a BSc. Quantitative Economics from the Makerere University in 2001. In 2004, Mark was recruited by MTN publiCom as Finance Analyst Revenue Assurance and was tasked to set up the revenue assurance department. MTN publiCom was the premier provider of public payphones in Uganda, a subsidiary company of MTN Uganda. The company was also part of MTN Uganda's commitment to be the 2nd National Operator bringing telecoms service to those without access. Operations extended from the grassroots to the district county HQs, and have since merged into the parent company as the Public Access department.

In 2006, Mark joined MTN Uganda as Senior Accountant - Revenue Assurance and was directed to evolve that function into a mature and professional department. The department was charged with educating the company, as well as key revenue stream stakeholders, on RA best practice. The goal was to ensure that a revenue aware culture prevailed in MTN Uganda. The team was tasked with product assurance, network assurance, new product development assurance; and became a partner to key operational units directly responsible for the revenue management chain. As an RA team, the MTNU RA unit continued to exceed expectations and develop deeper relationships and synergies year after year.

Mark has nurtured his skills through continued professional development training in project management, targeted software development, financial and market analysis, strategic planning and management, change management, revenue assurance, and telecommunications fraud, etc.

Mark is currently Manager Revenue Assurance & Fraud Management for Warid Telecom Uganda Ltd. WTU is the 4th entrant in the diversified and highly competitive Ugandan Telecoms Market. He was given a unique opportunity for a revenue assurance professional--to set up and manage the RA unit of a startup; determining the appropriate synergies and controls required even before business began and revenue was realized.
